The Italian Store is an amazing little gem located on Lee Highway in Arlington. Specializing in New York style pizza and Italian “Philadelphia style” sub sandwiches, this carryout restaurant is so popular that a long line is pretty much guaranteed at any time of day! Luckily, while you’re waiting for your fresh Capri sub (prosciutto, genoa salami, provolone cheese, & spiced capacola ham), you can enjoy perusing the other side of The Italian Store’s identity: the vast selection of wines, cheeses, sauces, pastas, and other authentic Italian ingredients that they sell. Recently, Chris & I discovered that The Italian Store carries wine and olive oil from a castle in Tuscany that we visited on our honeymoon! This was very exciting, especially since we have been quickly going through the olive oil stash we brought back home last March.
I’ve been enjoying carryout lunches from The Italian Store for a few years now, but this week, I discovered their catering. I was looking for a fun pizza place for our office lunch order, and going with The Italian Store turned out to be a huge hit! I must admit, coordinating the delivery was tough (they are always so busy!), and the order also arrived a half an hour late, but everyone enjoyed the meal so much that the obstacles were totally worth it.
We ordered 7 XL pizzas (enormous!) and Mixed Garden Salad for about 20 people. We still had 3 pizzas left over because the slices were so big! The selection included 1 Pepperoni, 2 Pizza Tradizionale (cheese), 2 Pizza Allegra (garlic, chicken, & roasted peppers), and 2 of Nino’s Pizza (White garlic sauce, spinach, ricotta, fontina, mozzarella & spices).
Thanks for helping us to make the office happy, Italian Store!
