Addictions have a tendency of creeping up on you. One day, all of a sudden, you find yourself simply immersed and then you wonder… how did I get here? You close your eyes, retrace all of the steps and formative moments. Patterns emerge, but you know you couldn’t have stopped it. The pears were just too delicious.
How did this happen?
- Pear Martinis
I wish I had pictures to document my new love for pear cocktails! I tried the Spiced Pear Tree Martini at Cava Mezze a few months ago, and ordered it again the next time I went. This drink includes Hangar One Spiced Pear vodka, St. Germain, and fresh lime juice. The other pear martini I’ve tried was at Matchbox a few weekends ago. Similarly named–and similarly created–this Pear Tree Martini is made up of Absolut Pear, Triple Sec, fresh lime juice, and St. Germain. I definitely need to make some sort of pear cocktail at home now!
- Pear & Prosciutto Pizza
All credit goes to this amazing recipe. Why not mix one addiction with another? Prosciutto is, by far, another weakness of mine. Lest you be completely distracted by these two fabulous toppings, take a look at the cheeses: Swiss AND fresh mozzarella. Oh my.
- Winter Sangria I’ve already talked about this luxurious beverage from our winter stay-cation. The pears truly add the perfect winter touch to this sangria.
- Freshly-Squeezed Pear Juice
Back to the basics. Just my Breville juicer, and a bag of pears from my friend Carrie. Fresh pear juice transports me to Peru, where I would consume this drink at every opportunity. I also can’t help but remember my favorite brunch spot, Gillie’s, in Blacksburg. It was always an extra special meal when they had pears on hand for the juicer…
Cheers to the beauty of the pear!
