I need more quality brunches in my life! A dream Saturday, in my opinion, is sleeping in late, going for a decent run, then settling into a long and luxurious brunch with friends. Recently, The Capitol Deal ran a $15.50 special which included one entree plus bottomless mimosas or bloody marys at Station 4. I had heard of Station 4 already, located by the Southwest Waterfront, as they sponsor one of my favorite DC food blogs, Bitches Who Brunch. We invited our friends Walter & Kimberly to join us a few weekends ago and had a great time!
Our reservation was at 11:00am, when the restaurant opened. The place was somewhat empty when we arrived, but filled up fast during the couple hours we were there. With hardly anyone around at first, we were able to really take in the environment. Station 4’s interior is gorgeous, with an eclectic mix of circular red booths and golden high-backed chairs. Glamorous chandeliers fell low over the tables. We opted to sit outside since the weather was perfect and enjoyed an umbrella-covered table on the spacious patio. When I took a restroom break, I felt like I was strangely still outside. Natural light poured in to the women’s room and the sinks were styled like river banks.
Let’s get to the food. The guys went for the steak and eggs with duck fat fries. A manly choice, and definitely worth it with the deal. I immensely enjoyed the fries I stole off of Chris’s plate.
Kimberly and I chose the huevos rancheros. Delicious! What could be better than a hearty Mexican breakfast with mimosas?
Sidenote: I am not a bloody mary fan, but I tried Walter’s and could tell it was really well-made. With an intriguing balance of flavors and a smooth finish, it was obvious that the drink was pure and not created from a mix.
We really had so much fun at Station 4. It was a lovely restaurant on the most perfect day. We lounged, chatted, sipped our breakfast drinks, and enjoyed full meals. I will definitely go back! The regular price of a meal plus drinks is actually $25, I believe, so still not too shabby. Thanks, Station 4!
