My dear friend Arielle is getting married in a few weeks! I had the best time helping out with her bachelorette party last month, with enormous thanks to Marian, the Maid of Honor. We started out with a brunch at Arielle’s family home. Then, we surprised her with a hummer limo and tasted wines at two different Virginia wineries, Hidden Brook and North Gate. Marian thought of so many adorable details for the day (such as the cute wine labels, below!) and I just wanted to share some of the highlights from it all…
Though I mostly have pictures from brunch, I did want to share in particular about the wonderful time that we had at North Gate Vineyard in Purcellville. Mark and Vicki, the owners, are such kind and down-to-earth people. Marian and I knew instantly when we visited the place that we had to bring the group there. Mark took us all to a side room where the wines were made, and gave our group a leisurely private tasting. He even included complimentary prosciutto, bread, and cheese! It was hard to pick a favorite wine; the lineup was high quality. We were also impressed by the eco-friendly focus of North Gate. To offer up one example, the counter top in the tasting room is completely made of recycled wine bottles.
As an aside, Chris and I join four other couples each month for a “wine night” in which each couple brings a bottle, we all taste through the wines blind, then vote on our favorite one. Chris and I won a Virginia white wine night a few months ago with a Chardonnay from North Gate!
Marian had the brilliant idea of finding a special wine-tasting glass for Arielle to use throughout the day. After much brainstorming, I stumbled on RaeSmith Designs‘ Etsy shop. I loved Rachael’s hand-painted floral wine glasses, and asked if she could paint a custom glass inspired by Arielle’s wedding invitation. She was happy to accommodate the request, even offering to meet up in Burke since she lives in the area! The glass couldn’t have been more stunning. I think I might ask her to paint one that looks like Chris and I’s wedding invitation next!
There is much more that I could share about the festivities and the fun, but it was a great time and I think Arielle felt very celebrated. Just a few more weeks until the big day!
